I'm Not Good Enough

I'm Not Good Enough - Dramatic Monologue
I'm not good enough. It seems as if I spend my life in a sail boat, on a near tranquil sea, and suddenly an enormous wave washes over me until I can't breathe, it feels as if I'm drowning. All will be fine until one person accidentally says or does the wrong thing, and bam... I'm suffocated. Everything around me is dark.
I am no ones first choice. I am never number one. I am always following, never leading.
I feel sick. Nauseated. Self destructive.
I live almost alone, telling myself that it's by coincidence. It never is. It is always purposeful. Always. I pleaded for companionship but my call was never answered. I acted as if I hadn't noticed. Of course I fucking had.
I began to deteriorate, stop believing in anything and anyone, stopped loving the things I loved because I knew it was pointless.
Until he came along. This boy changed my life. No, he is not my boyfriend. The platonic relationship we have is all I need.
He makes me feel as though I am loved, I am needed, I am wanted. Even in my darkest of hours He picks me up, brushes my off, and tells me to woman up.
I need that to carry on.
Without him I don't know where I would be?

My Summer in the City Day One Outfit

Hey guys,
So this month I attended Summer in the City (SitC). SitC is an annual YouTube convention in London, held most recently, in Alexandra Palace. I didn't fancy recapping the event quite yet, though I will most probably do so in the near future. Instead I thought I'd share with you my first outfit of the weekend and some alternatives to fit your personality.
The basis of my outfit for both days was my Pale Yellow ASOS Skater Skirt in Mesh.

This was relatively pricey when I bought it at £47.50, however I was planning on wearing it for both days of SitC and in the future so didn't mind too much. The picture was fairly deceiving in the fact that is was really quite see through when I tried it on, so I bought another tutu to wear underneath. Personally I bought one off of ebay, but if you have a higher budget then I would recommend buying 2 of the same skirt.

On day one I wanted to go with a bright and breezy look as the weather was wonderful, so I themed my outfit around daisy's. My mum is an artist, so I asked her to paint a large daisy on the ASOS Colour Block Baseball Top that I paired the skirt with and it looked wonderful. You don't have to be an artist to do this though! If your planning on wearing this top only once then buy some cheap wash out paints and do it yourself! Or if you don't fancy that, try a feature necklace, or nothing at all.
What you do next depends on how confident you feel in this outfit! Personally, I thought that the skirt was a bit short and wore a pair of black tights underneath, but you could alternatively wear patterned tights, leggings or nothing at all! I suggest these cute little White and Pink Daisy Pattern Tights.
Now, shoes are a whole different story! I wore my pair of Wulfrun Single Sole Black Suede Creepers from Underground as they're comfy and reliable, however I also considered wearing my Creep Platform Lo Metallic Flats from Schuh which went well with the outfit also. But if flatforms aren't your style, a pair of vans or converse would look just as awesome!

I hope you enjoyed this and gained some helpful clothing tips!

Tick.

Tick, tick, tick...
0 days, 0 hours, 7 minutes, 25 seconds.. 24 seconds... 23 seconds...
After 16 years the day has come, my timer was running out, I was finally going to meet my true love.
Mum was born with 22 years, my sister with 19, and I at only 16. Would this be romantic? Would this be magical? Who was he?
Tick, 6 minutes. It's getting closer. I never thought an empty road would be the place I met the man of my dreams. There is no one around, surrounded by silence I keep walking. I walk faster and faster, I need to get to the town, the park, anywhere that there are people! Tick, 5 minutes. I'm running out of time so I pick up the pace, faster and faster, running. The road felt like it was getting longer and longer, Tick, 4 minutes, but suddenly  i'm on the floor. My hands scraping on the pavement, my head hitting the concrete. I guess I didn't see that dent in the pavement. Tick, 2 minutes. I sat up rubbing my forehead, only covering myself in more blood. Tick, 1 minute.
Screeeeech, tshhhhh, *gasp* step, step..
'Are you okay?'
Click
I saw a bus pull up next to me from the corner of my eye. This is it. The love of my life. I look up.
There she was.

Home facial

Hello one and all,
Today I've decided to share with you one of my favourite beauty secrets. This home facial works quickly and helps clear your skin makes whilst making it feel soft as well.
The ingredients you'll need are...
Ground turmeric, Honey, Salt, and Greek yogurt.

To make the mask
In a bowl mix 3 heaped tablespoons of Greek yogurt with 1 tablespoon of honey...

Then add 2-3 tablespoons of turmeric...

 and mix thoroughly.

It should end up looking something like this!

For the facial
1) Splash your face with cold water to open your pores then pour 2 to 3 teaspoons worth of salt into an egg cup or something similar.
2) Fill your sink with warm water and then, using an old flannel, slowly wipe your face with warm water.
3) Dip a cotton wool ball into the warm water then the salt.
4) *Warning* this may sting! Dab your face lightly with salt all over, avoiding your eyes.  Don't dab too much salt into a concentrated area - yes, it is good for your skin, but could easily dry it out if overused!).
5) Leave the salt on your skin for 3 minutes then wash it off carefully with warm water.
6) Using a paint brush, make up brush, or any brush you like- begin to paint on the mask, keeping away from your eyes. Turmeric stains easily so also avoid your hair line and eye brows.
7) Leave the mask on for 7 - 10 minutes, then splash your face to remove the top layer. Then dip your old flannel in warm water and start to wipe it off. Make sure you use an old flannel or towel as the turmeric will most probably dye it orange.
8) Once most of the mask is off use a make up wipe over your face, this will remove any left over turmeric.

And you're done!

I hope you enjoyed this post, and the mask worked for you!

Hello old friend..

I'm terrible aren't I.. My pathetic attempt at running a blog flopped like a fish out of water, only much less energetic and full of (the remainder) of life.
You see, I started this blog with such effervescence and optimism, but after numerous encounters with humanity since, I am seldom impressed. However this story of woe is not here to make you forgive my laziness, but to alert you of the fact that I will make every effort to keep this blog updated as much as possible. Whether that be a review, a summary, a poem, a short story.. I do not know. Howbeit, I hope you enjoy what is to come!
I shall leave you with this...

Hope grows like a kitaibelia vitifolia,
and falls like a house of cards,
Days drag like languishing concertina,
and rush like a waterfall,
Love thrives like a prosperous economy,
and decays like the dead.
Hope may be pure,
Days may be rich,
Love may be patient,
Life will be long.

Stay classy.

What happened to politeness?

Hello there!
Recently, I've realised how impolite people have become. We are raised to believe politeness costs nothing and gains everything, however as people are getting older they are starting to loose that idea. I decided to explore this theory.
I started with the youngsters. In working as an assistant performing arts teacher to children aged 6-8, I am often asked by them what they should be doing or if they can get a drink. I noticed that every single time any of the children asked me if they could do something they would always say please, and whatever my answer may be, they would say thank you, without fail. This showed me that their parents teachings had worked, and the idea of pleases and thank yous were engraved within their bright young minds already. Then I took a few steps up the generation ladder to children at the ages of 11/12, and all I can say is.. urgh. What happened in the 3 years between these ages I will never know, however in finding how rude children of this age were I was astonished. As I stood with my friends, I handed out cake bites to people who had asked politely to have one, then he came over. A 12 year old boy on the brink of puberty, with a voice like he had swallowed an dogs chew toy. He saw what I was doing and stuck his hand out to me and wiggled his fingers expectantly with a blank expression upon his oh so punch-able face. Let's take into consideration the fact that I had spoken to this child, what, twice in my life? Possibly 3 times? I looked at him, completely baffled, and asked him what he was doing, and (obviously) refused to give him any; to this he said 'wow, if only I had a friend who would give me cake bites'. His tone was dripping with sarcasm, as thick as treacle. I was a whisker away from saying 'If only you had a friend at all..' but I knew that that would be going completely against my plan of spreading politeness so I just ignored his remark and excused myself from the situation.
I'm still in disbelief of the fact that young people can be so rude and disrespectful, and I want to change this. I have taken it upon myself to will kindness and politeness on others, in the hope of improving their attitude.
It's a big task but i'm already seeing an improvement in people close to me.
Stay polite and stay beautiful.

The Huger Games and Catching Fire - Review

Hello there!
Today I thought I would write a film/book review on The Hunger Games and Catching Fire.

After reading the books at the end of 2010 I instantly loved them. The development of characters and the progress of their lives fascinated me, and upon find out that The Hunger Games movie was being made a year later I was ecstatic. However.. after watching it.. disappointment is the only word that comes to mind. The plot was muddled, parts of the the story was changed, entire characters weren't even in it! People who hadn't read the books beforehand came out confused, and even people like me (who had read the books) were perplexed. After such great disappointment, I was not looking forward to Catching Fire and decided not to see it. To this day, I regret that. I decided to finally give a chance this week and was baffled. It was absolutely fantastic! The length of the film meant that barely anything was missed from the plot, and the execution of the scenes; the fantastic cliff hanger; the casting choices, made the film as good as it could be!
I would greatly recommend you to read all three, however... (now I'm telling you this in confidence, just from me to you) ... watch The Hunger Games with great caution. Keep your expectations low. The only reason you must watch this is to learn who the characters are played by. That is all. Now go and watch Catching Fire here (if it's no longer available at your local cinema) and love it as much as I did!
Thanks for reading, and let me know what you thought of The Hunger Games and Catching Fire (movies) in the comments!
Stay Beautiful.

Seeing Tom Odell Live

Hello there!
Another blog post already, I hear you ask? Yep. Here we gooooo

On Saturday the 8th of February, this year, I went to see Tom Odell live in the O2 academy in Brixton. All I can say is wow. Tom Odell is a 22 year old singer/songwriter who plays the piano, and every sound that comes from his mouth and is made by his hands is like gold dust rushing through the atmosphere and into my ears. If you've never heard of him, I pity you. However, being the nice girl that I am, I shall give you the benefit of the doubt and the chance to listen before you continue reading..
(These are a few of my favourites, as I couldn't possibly pick one.)
Another Love (Explicit Lyrics)
Hold Me
Grow Old With Me (Explicit Lyrics)
I Know
Now hopefully we are in agreement that this man is some sort of Greek God, sent down from the heavens to convince us that there is still passion and talent in music, not just constant repetition of basic tunes, and idiotic lyrics.
So yes, I was lucky enough to be in his presence for over an hour and a half, and I can honestly say that it is the best concert I have ever been to in my entire life. I came out of the venue speechless, and couldn't create any words to say about what had just happened. Honestly, this wasn't a concert. This was an experience. I strongly urge you to go and see him if you have the chance to. Though I know all the words to almost all of his songs, you needn't learn them, as you can simply sit there and listen. Each lyric means something, and each song tells a story, and singers no longer tend to do that these days.
If you like the sound of him then you can download his newest album Long Way Down on iTunes here, or if you're like me and that's not enough, you can get Long Way Down - Deluxe here on iTunes also. I sincerely hope you enjoy his music as much as I do, and if so its not to late to see him. He's touring the world right now, and there are still tickets available for all over here.
Follow me if you like what you read, and let me know what you think of Tom in the comments!
Stay beautiful.

My First Post

Hello there..
I'm not sure how to begin my first blog post, as I see this becoming a regular thing and do not wish to ruin it already with a boring introduction.
My name is Darcey, and though I am a keen user of social networking websites, I have found myself in need of a blog for a while, but could not think of what to say, or if anyone would care about what I eventually wrote. I have, however, finally decided that I want somewhere to write about things I have done and places I have been, and think my own blog would be perfect.
So this is it.
Welcome to The Life Of Darcey.
Follow me if you like what you read, and stay beautiful.
